Fairest Song

Was it fate, that you would one day grace my ears
At an appointed time, on an appointed day
When I desired you most?
Or was it chance, that you would appear
And take hold of the attention of my heart
And render it so in bliss with your sweet and moving melody?
And, being the dreamer that I am
I could not put you out of my mind,
Nor would I wish to, for you are so special.

Your existence reassures me,
And it tells me that beauty still has a place in our world,
And, if only people would listen to songs like you
They would surely forget their sadness for a while
And weep, as I did, out of sheer gladness
As their hearts are touched by you
And they recognize that love is contained within you
And perceive that you are indeed a friend, a force for good
And an ambassador for hope.

O how the world needs you, Fairest Song;
You are the hope of all romantics;
And for as long as I walk this earth and breathe the air of this world
And marvel at the beauty that is manifest in many of its fairest places
Then I shall never be parted from you,
For your music will always play in the background of my mind
And will be embedded so lovingly in the depths of my memory.
