On Thursday 25th June 2015, I watched Ranger take part in the J-Class Regatta at Falmouth, Cornwall, and watched her participate in two races with Lionheart and Velsheda.

The construction of Ranger started at Danish Yacht Boatyard in early 2002. Ranger was finished in December 2003 and left Denmark in January 2004. Ranger then crossed the Atlantic and cruised the Caribbean before beginning her racing program in April. The modern J Class Yacht is much different to the earlier, 1930 versions, but they still retain the sleek, elegant look and beautiful lines of the older yachts. The modern yachts have to conform to tougher safety regulations as well as being able to cross oceans with accommodation for crew and all support services associated with such a Superyacht. The new ranger was born from the Owner's enthusiasm for these great yachts. This painting, based on a photograph by well-known sports photographer Alex Irwin, captures J5: Ranger taking part in the Falmouth Regatta, 26th June 2012.
