A Search for High Beauty and Transcendence
For as long as I can remember, I have felt a deep yearning to touch something beyond the ordinary patterns of daily life. My creative aspirations are born out of this desire to reach for greater beauty and transcendence, not only in what I create but in how I live and perceive the world. There are times, rare but unforgettable, when I experience moments that seem to open a window into the mystical and the divine. These instances — whether in dreams, visions or sudden flashes of insight — leave me humbled, grateful and filled with a sense that life is imbued with far more meaning than I can ever fully capture.
I have spent decades reading, reflecting and seeking to understand these mysteries. Each vision, each dream, has shaped me as a person and as a writer. They have reminded me that beauty is not simply decoration, but a language of the soul, pointing us toward truths we cannot always express logically. When I write, I try to carry that awareness into the work, to let the memory of those sacred moments guide my words. In that way, writing becomes more than craft — it becomes a vessel through which glimpses of the divine can be shared with others.
How I am Inspired to Write
Ultimately, these moments of transcendence fuel my creative process. They lift me beyond the limitations of doubt or habit, urging me to reach higher in the literature I produce. If my writing can carry even a fraction of the wonder and stillness I have felt in those sacred moments, then I believe it has the chance to move others in meaningful ways. To me, that is the true purpose of art: to reflect back the beauty that blesses us when we least expect it, and to remind us that the divine is never as distant as it sometimes seems.
When I receive inspired writing, I become the scribe, who dutifully writes down the words that flow into my mind from the divine. The words are already there for me, gifted by a higher presence blessed by God's love, and are never created consciously.
Lifting of the Veil
There have been moments in my life when the ordinary veil of the world seemed to lift, and I was allowed a glimpse into something far greater, far more radiant than words can easily hold. I remember walking alone in the mountains, the air warm, still and clear, the silence broken only by the distant sound of birdsong. In those moments, the sheer beauty of the landscape felt almost overwhelming — their gentle peaks touched with golden evening light, valleys in stillness, the vast sky stretching endlessly above me. It was as if the earth itself became a cathedral, and I stood within it as a humble guest. But more than that, it was as if I was aware that I was not alone; that companions were with me in spirit, sharing the moment with me.
The Beauty of Evensong
Attending Choral Evensong at an English Cathedral, in late spring, 2025, was a very moving, uplifting and sublime experience for me. From my seat in the impressive and ornate Quire, I had an incredible view of the lofty arches opposite and the cathedral pipe organ. When the choir began to sing, accompanied by the powerful organ music, I could feel the music through my body. The sound frequencies pulsed right through me and moved me on a level never before experienced. The amazing acoustics and reverberation in the huge cathedral added to the sound, exalting it even further. It personally demonstrated the power and high beauty of sacred music. It was an unforgettable experience, which I will always treasure and be grateful for.
Blessings
When I look back, I realize how profoundly these glimpses of transcendence have nurtured my creative life. They remind me that writing is not simply about arranging words but about opening a space where the sacred might breathe through language. The awe I felt on those mountain paths, the gratitude that filled me in the wake of a vision or dream — these are not just memories, but sources of inspiration that continue to guide my pen.
Though such moments come rarely, they are enough. They are blessings — brief but luminous — reminding me that high beauty is never absent, only hidden until we are quiet enough to see it. My creative aspiration is to honour those gifts, to weave them into words that may speak to others, just as the mountains once spoke to me. If my writing can reflect even a trace of that mystery, then I believe it will not only express my own journey, but also invite others toward the same higher outlook, where the mystical and the divine can shine through.
